Thanks Facebook

I love social media. I am now in touch with over thirty other exchange students all going to France. Thanks to Facebook. It is so great having someone to talk to that can share your nerves and excitement. Some of them have host families already. So jealous of them, I can't wait to receive my host family information. But also happy that they know their host family is right and happy to know AFS France is taking their time to put me with a good family. I want this year to end quickly but at the same time, it is moving too fast. While I can't wait to go on exchange, I am dreading leaving friends and family and normality behind. Typical conflicted thoughts of a soon-to-be exchange student. Once again, thanks Facebook for linking me with other students just as confused as me.

Hazel is going to FRANCE!

Hi! My name is Hazel and I am a sophomore at Garfield High School in Seattle, WA. I was recently accepted into the AFS France program. AFS is one of the leaders in high school student exchange. They have an extensive web of volunteers and an amazing support system for their students. I believe they are the most reputable and safe program to travel and study abroad with. Because I was accepted into their program, this means that for my junior year of high school I will be living and going to school in France. I will get to experience French culture, share my culture with my host family and friends, and hopefully eat some amazing French food. This is such an amazing opportunity and I couldn't be more excited. Unfortunately it is also an expensive opportunity. I need to raise 5,000$. I am going to be using this page to help me earn the large amount of money. This blog will also allow me to write and document my experience in a foreign country. I am also going to try my hand at small jobs and getting company sponsorships. If you want to sponsor my dream of going to France, you could simply click the ChipIn button on my blog. This money will go straight to my AFS tuition.
I am on the left!
